Who We Are
My name is Sally. The handsome boys on either side of me are Robbie and Austin. Robbie was my 1st service dog, a shelter dog I trained myself to be my mobility dog for CRPS. He passed away on May 22, 2022. He was with us for 7 years. Austin was adopted in 2021, and is learning how to be my 2nd service dog. I have full body CRPS, a severe neurological disorder that makes my brain interpret every incoming stimuli as a pain signal. I owner-trained Robbie to be my assistance partner in daily life. I was his leader, teacher, partner, charge, and companion. I follow balanced training methods mixed with horse training methods. Robbie used to help me manage my pain by performing tasks through the day that might otherwise cause pain flares for me, such as preventing falls, opening doors, finding help, retrieving dropped items, and more! Austin is currently working on Foundation Obedience and early task training such as retrieve and opening doors.
In addition to training Austin, I run a small, online service dog and companion dog training business called Disabled Advantage Dog Training & Consulting, LLC. To learn more about it, scroll down! About Disabled Advantage Dog Training & Consulting, LLC
I run a small business dedicated to helping people with CRPS and other mobility disorders owner-train a service dog. My training courses are all done online, through live conferencing to enable me to work within my disability and reach more people. I offer courses from bringing the dog home, all the way through early skill and command training to service dog tasks and public access training. I also offer a few courses for pet owners, and educational service dog sessions for people looking to learn more before deciding to train or go through a program. If you're interested, head on over to my business website to learn more! All initial consults are free.
Valley View Creations crafted this stunning portrait of Robbie, capturing his loyalty and mischievousness all in one! Want an exquisite portrait of your service dog or companion animal for yourself? Check out her site, or send me an email and I'll get you in touch with her.

Why I Created This Blog I believe that service dogs can positively impact the lives of people with CRPS and give them back a piece of their independence that has been lost. I created this blog primarily to keep track of our progress during training, but now I also maintain it for the purpose of spreading awareness and helping to educate people about the benefits of CRPS service dogs.
